چکیده

In this paper we discuss the properties of the quasi-steady state cosmological model (QSSC) developed in 1993 in its role as a cyclic model of the universe driven by a negative energy scalar field. We discuss the origin of such a scalar field in the primary creation process first described by F. Hoyle and J. V. Narlikar forty years ago. It is shown that the creation processes which takes place in the nuclei of galaxies are closely linked to the high energy and explosive phenomena, which are commonly observed in galaxies at all redshifts. The cyclic nature of the universe provides a natural link between the places of origin of the microwave background radiation (arising in hydrogen burning in stars), and the origin of the lightest nuclei (H, D, He3 and He4). It also allows us to relate the large scale cyclic properties of the universe to events taking place in the nuclei of galaxies. Observational evidence shows that ejection of matter and energy from these centers in the form of compact objects, gas and relativistic particles is responsible for the population of quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) and gamma-ray burst sources in the universe. In the later parts of the paper we briefly discuss the major unsolved problems of this integrated cosmological and cosmogonical scheme. These are the understanding of the origin of the intrinsic redshifts, and the periodicities in the redshift distribution of the QSOs.

Explosive Cosmogony and the Quasi-steady State Cosmology

Arguments and evidence against the hot big bang model are summarized. The observations which point to an explosive cosmogony and the quasi-steady state cosmology are outlined. 1 The Historical Setting Modern cosmology began with the realization that there were solutions to Einstein’s theory of gravity discovered by Friedmann and Lemaitre which when combined with the redshift distance relation o...

Spectral Features from the Reionization Epoch

Emission lines in hydrogen can be used to measure the approximate redshift of the reionization of the universe. This is an important measurement given the lack of a convincing theoretical prediction of this epoch. There is a rapid change in absorption at the reionization event, which can leave sharp features in the spectrum of recombining hydrogen. These features in the near infrared background...

Cosmic Chemistry: Cosmogony

Big Bang, quarks, dark matter, general relativity, red-shift, non-Euclidean geometry, worm holes—all words that are mysterious in their details, but often translated into the vernacular with relative ease by journalists and science writers. These words form part of the core of the science of cosmology, a science in which the questions usually are easy to state, but equally difficult to answer. ...

Constraints on Primordial Black Holes and Primeval Density Perturbations from the Epoch of Reionization

We investigate the constraint on the abundance of primordial black holes (PBHs) and the spectral index n of primeval density perturbations given by the ionizing photon background at the epoch of reionization. Within the standard inflationary cosmogony, we show that the spectral index n of the power-law power spectrum of primeval density perturbations should be n <1.27. Since the universe is sti...

An Isocurvature Cdm Cosmogony. I. a Worked Example of Evolution through Inflation

I present a specific worked example of evolution through inflation to the initial conditions for an isocurvature CDM model for structure formation. The model invokes three scalar fields, one that drives power law inflation, one that survives to become the present-day CDM, and one that gives the CDM field a mass that slowly decreases during inflation and so “tilts” the primeval mass fluctuation ...
